Which Mexican residency do you qualify for?

A few questions, one at a time. You’ll see whether temporary or permanent residency fits you, the basis you’d apply under, and what to do next. No sign-up.

Question 1 of about 6

Which passport would you apply with?

It doesn't change which residency you get. It can shorten the road to citizenship later.

How this check works

Mexican residency comes in two kinds, temporary and permanent, and you qualify for one on a basis: the money you can show, a family tie, retirement, or the years you have already spent as a temporary resident. This check asks only the questions that decide which of those applies to you.

It runs in your browser and sends your answers nowhere. The link to your result carries your answers in the address, and nothing else.

Consulates apply their own criteria, and some cases don’t fit a general check. When yours is one of them, the result says so instead of guessing.

What it can tell you

  • Temporary or permanent, and why
  • The basis you would apply under
  • The next three things to do
  • The catches worth knowing before you book
